The Blue Bear - Bearyfrance

Got a free Celcom Blue Bear yesterday by reloading my hand phone credit by RM30. It is actually a promotion from the telco during this world cup season. The step is simple, for Celcom prepaid service XPAX users:

1. Type BOLA and send to 22188
2. Wait for a message which indicates successful registration and there is an instruction asking you to reload RM30.
3. Reload RM30.
4. A serial number will be sent to your hand phone and it is the key to claim the blue bear at the nearest service center!

There were 8 blue bears to choose from actually each wearing different jersey represents a country that took part in World Cup 2010. They are France, England, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Italy and also Brazil.

Each blue bear had been given a name in such a way that the name is the creative combination of the country's name it represents and the word "Bear". Thus, their name are BEARYFRANCE, ENGLBEAR, BEARTUGAL, ESBEARANYOL, BEARMANY, BEARGENTINA, BEARITALIA and BEARZIL.

I had a hard time decide which to choose actually. I wished to go for Brazil which is my all-time favorite team in football, but Spain is the one advanced to final in World Cup 2010. Their opponent will be Netherlands, but the country is not in the blue bear list! After long thought, I decided to take this year World Cup finalist - the Spain!

However when I redeemed the blue bear at the service center, the officer told me that they are out of stock and only France bear left. Either I take it or leave it! Well, I guess I have no choice as the promotion closing date is approaching. Just took whatever they offered but I am still doubt if they really out of stock or have other "agenda"!

Planned to get the blue bear represents the best team in this World Cup, but ended up redeem the worst - France! Little upset yet no choice.

Top 10 Sharing in 2009

It is the last day of year 2009. Over the year, there were plenty of happenings around me which I shared it out in this blog. Now is time to reveal them back in this edition of Top 10 Sharing in 2009.

1. Flood On 6th Day of CNY
Frequent flood occurred in Sibu in the year 2009 resulted from the shallowed Rejang river bank but denied by some local politicians. The highlight of the flood was on the 6th day of Chinese New Year.

2. A Short Trip To Batang Ai
Just happened to have chance to visit this place, a tourists attraction point in Sarawak near the small town of Lubok Antu and also one of the hydroelectric power plant in Sarawak. Due to the time constraint, it was just a short visit, but the mountain water and its surroundings were absolutely impressive!

3. My First Working Trip
This was my first working attachment in KL for a period of 2 months. Is a good experience in my life with the good hospitality from colleagues in KL office and also my siblings. Staying at Savannah Condo near Bukit Jalil and it was a hectic routine travel to and fro office and staying place everyday.

4. Hunting For GT Girls!
Being in KL during F1 Malaysia Grand Prix season was a great experience. Besides had chance to see various kind of branding promotion going on, F1 cars were displayed to the public at major shopping complexes. The most important thing is - if there are cool cars, there will be pretty girls around! I walked from The Pavillion till Suria KLCC to hunt down these so called GT girls just for to take nice shots on these hot girls for the view of Just Sharing readers!

5. Pretty Show Girls At PC Fair @ KL Convention Center
PC fair in KL is not just about a fair to promote or sell the latest information and telecommunication technology. It is also an occasion where pretty and hot show girls gathered as a method to attract visitors to the branding and products they represent. Despite crowded, I successfully sneaked through the crowds and snapped the photos of these show girls just for Just Sharing "buaya" readers! That was the first experience pretty girls willing to post in front of my compact camera with sweet and heart-melting smiles!

6. Half Day Trip to Sg Klah Hot Springs Park
Sg. Klah Hot Springs Park is a tourism spot in the state of Perak. During my working attachment, I had a chance to visit to this place. It was on holiday time so the place was crowded. Soaking the legs inside the natural hot warm ground water was a new experience to me and it helped in blood circulation. A nie place to visit.

7. Lake Fishing @ Three Pillars Farm
Three Pillars Farm is a local lake fishing attraction venue in Sibu. I am not a fishing enthusiast, I just happened to went there with bunch of friends who would like to experience the fun of fishing. A lot of funny and interesting things happened in this first fishing experience. Although we went back with empty hands, but all of us enjoyed the process.

8. A Short Visit to Memoryland!
Attended university roommate's wedding reception in Kuching. Had a great reunion with few buddies which we used to share our study life together during those years. Had a chance to revisit our memoryland - UNIMAS old campus which we spent 3 years of our life there and left us with a lot of sweet memories. These memories will remain in our heart forever!

9. 1st Borneo Lantern Festival
It was the first ever lantern festival being organized in Sibu. Approximately 7000 lanterns being hung high above the street. When the light was switched on at night, the view was pretty impressive! The lanterns had been arranged in such a way that it symbolized a dragon flying across Sibu's sky, where the dragon head was located at Tua Pek Kong Temple and the tail at Sibu Gateway.

10. Sibu BASE Jump 2009 @ Wisma Sanyan
It was the first ever event of its kind organized by the local council where the jumpers came from all around the world. The world record holder of the most best jump done in 24 hours Mr. Gary Cunningham also took part in this event. Watching a human jumped from top of the tallest building of Sarawak was a heart-beating experience. Comments left by the foreign jumpers in this blog are certainly encouraging!

Playing With Rubik's Cube

Magic cube was once my toy when I was still a kiddie. I can still remember at that time, solving and arranging 1 out of 6 faces was just like rocket science to me, not even dare to think about solving the entire cube.

Recently the trend of playing this magic cube was alive again! From a 5 years old kid to an adult like me, magic cube had become a toy on leisure. With Internet technology, solving the cube is no longer hard and it is something that everyone can do!

I started to play the cube from the influence of a 14 years old kid. At first I was hesitate as the "rocket science perception" still worried me. However, after some persuasion and encouragement from him, I decided to give myself a try! After all it is not just a toy. It is a brain game!

I then bought myself a cube from a local toy shop. There are many types of magic cube sold on the market, each one vary from price and quality. I got the one with fluorescence edge which cost RM14.90. I thought this kind of cube can be played in a dark ambience, but it actually cannot as the color of each face are not fluorescence!

The 14 years old kid became my mentor for the cubing game. Yeah... learning from younger is not something you should shame about! Besides that, I also look for some info about this game on the Internet. From there I just realized that the official name for the cube is called the Rubik's cube, not magic cube. This is 3x3x3 Rubik's cube, the standard one for competition.

It is not that hard to solve the Rubik's cube actually, there are plenty of resources on the Net that teach you the way. But I would suggest that visualized tutorials are much effective than the written one. You can just go to Youtube and search for "Rubik's cube solution" and you will get overloaded tutorials about it. Just pick any you feel comfortable and I am sure you can do it as well!

So far, I can only solve the cube in around 3 minutes (more or less depend on the luck). The most recent world record holder is Erik Akkersdijk from Netherland who solved the cube in 7.08 minutes seconds!! Just can't imagine how he did it, but here is the video for your eyes opening and it was absolutely amazing!

Well, I never think of break the record as I believe I can never do it with my degraded brain, but I hope I can achieve the target of under 2 minutes one day (but dunno when as I am worry maybe this is just another "3-minute-heat" for me).

The Lousy Polis Saman SMS System!

Received a letter from Traffic Division Bukit Aman today with the receiver is my brother. The letter is about an unpaid traffic summon reminder which was quite shocking as I didn't hear my brother mentioned about any summon before. So I called to notify him which himself was caught in surprise as well.

There was an instruction in the letter saying we can actually use SMS service to check for summon. I knew about this service but never try on it before. So I asked my brother to use the service to get the summon information. From what I read from the letter, I told him how was the SMS syntax should look like.

After he tried, there was no summon recorded on his name. As both of our name is just an alphabet difference, I started to suspect if they wrongly type the name on the letter. To play safe, I tried the SMS service to see if the summon was under by name. I followed the syntax "Polis Saman (IC Number / Car Plate number)" then sent to 32728.

However, I think it was a wrong syntax so the system returned a message to me and charge me RM0.50 for this (as shown in the picture below). In this message, an example of the syntax was given. It was actually far more easy!! Just "POLIS SAMAN" follow by car plate number you wish to check. It was definitely not as complicated as mentioned in the letter!

 

I sent again and this time the reply shocked me! It said that my car was having a summon cost RM100 and due on 11/12/09 which is today!!! Without much thinking, I rushed to police HQ tried to clear the summon.

After the police traffic on duty checked on his system, he told me there was no record of summon under my name! WTF???!! I told him the situation and he offered to check the record for my brother. After checking, it was confirmed that there was an overdue summon belongs to my brother!

Can you see the lousiness of the Polis Saman SMS system here? It just provided the wrong information yet charge RM0.50 for each SMS! In another word, we pay for the wrong information! I am not sure how frequent this happened but what is sure is that some enhancement or improvement should be taken immediately to the system.

Polis Saman SMS system is a widely use system in the country, thus lousy service like this should be avoided so that the public can use it with confident and sense of reliable. Wrong information will just bring more trouble for the general users who forced to pay for the service! This is definitely unreasonable!

Bye Bye To My First Badminton Racket

Badminton is the only sport I still engaged in currently. I got a very primitive badminton racket who had accompanied me for more than a decade. It is a Yonex B-2000 badminton racket which I owned it when I was in secondary school (but I forgot which year). It was the one and the only racket I ever have so far.

As badminton was not my favorite sport during schooling days plus my financial status at that time disallowed me to own a better one, this basic badminton racket became my choice. I forgot its exact price, but if not mistaken, it was RM69.90. Having such racket at that time was consider a luxury spent for me.

The racket had accompanied me to every badminton session since then. Even after I came out to society for works where badminton became the only sport to keep fit, I never felt of changing it. For me, badminton racket is just a tool. How well you can play a badminton game cannot fully depend on the racket, but is the skill that speaks.

However I won't deny that once you got the skill, then a better racket can push your performance to the highest. This is when the racket starts to play its role. Anyway, I not really care as I play badminton for exercise and not for competition. As long as I can serve well, smash well and play the game well with that racket, I will consider it as a "good racket". This is how I felt of my primitive Yonex B-2000 all these while.

Of course you can always argue with me that I was looking for tonnes of excuses to support my points above and hide my stinginess. I got no objection on that as this is a democratic country where everyone has the rights to express their own opinion. The most important thing is - there is no ISA applied on this argument!

Back to the topic about my first badminton racket, last week when I was playing as usual, I noticed some strange sound from the racket when the shuttlecock hitting the ring. Suppose it should be a solid sound, but it wasn't. I could sense it could be some cracking at some part of the frame.

After the game, when I examined the racket, I found the crack! It was quite a big crack near the bottom part of the racket head and it was severe! I guess it was caused by myself who love to throw the racket off my hand when I couldn't reach the shuttlecock while playing.

I think I got no choice, but is time to say goodbye to the racket that had brought me a lot of great games and accompanied me for more than a decade! I found its replacement already actually which I will reveal in the coming write up. I am not sure how fast I can get used to the new one, but I promise I will treat it as nice as the old one!

Banks Are Blood Suckers!

Why I said so?

Today on lunch time, I went to a bank with "tiger head" which I used to deal with all these while to buy demand draft/banker cheque to pay my monthly study loan installment. This is not the first, but the 10th time I bought the demand draft from the same bank.

As usual, I completed the routine procedure by filling up the form, took my turn then when my number was called, I attended to the counter to buy the bank draft. There I met a very impolite staff. With her sour face, she asked me "if the RM5 charges deduct from this account?"

I thought I heard it wrongly. I thought she said they will deduct some commission from my account for issuing the banker cheque. Just to clarify, I replied "Huh?". Then with her unsmiling face, she told me one more time "If you wanna deduct RM5 charges from this account?"

I was shocked and couldn't believe my ears. I told her "RM5? This is not the first time I buy bank draft from your bank. Last time they only charge 50 cents for commission, why now got RM5 charges?". With very unfriendly attitude, she replied "This is a normal charges".

"Why before these there weren't such charges?", I started to feel a bit impatient. Then the girl replied me in this way, "Before these we forgot to charge. You still wanna buy?"

With that kind of bad attitude and also the illogical answer given, I was really pissed off and just told her "No! I don't want to buy anymore. Banks are cheaters!!"

That's the reason why I said banks are blood suckers! They use our hard earned money to make profit, they suppose to provide the clients with some services in return.

But in the real world that is not the case! Banks charged unreasonably on various services given to the clients! Do you think RM5 for issuing just a banker cheque sounds reasonable?!! I certainly not feel so and it is just ridiculous!!

Furthermore do you think the staff at the bank were really that dumb and forget to charge RM5 for 9 times in a row and only remembered at the 10th time?! If that is the case, then I would suggest the bank to reconsider their staff quality and perhaps it is time to hire smarter batch of staff!!

This incident certainly spoiled my mood for the entire day!!

4 Days Without Internet!

Just get back my Internet connection!! It had been 4 days since last Thursday (08/10/2009) my Internet line was down! Some problem occurred on ISP side and I had called at least 5 times to the customer care center to report and complain my problem.

Being asked to do lengthy and time-wasting troubleshooting as usual. But I cannot blame those people as they need to ensure the problem is caused by ISP instead of customer's carelessness.

Called again on second day when the line still down. The customer support personnel told me my report was not submitted to technical division as too many similar reports were logged. It was because line at my area got problem and the technicians were busy solving this problem. I guess she means this is not an individual case but is a common area's problem. So all Streamyx subscribers within the area would get affected.

I accepted that so just wait for miracle. Friday gone without Internet. My mood was down to the earth! Saturday noon the problem still remain. I called to make sure ISP still working on it. I knew my problem wasn't normal. I was having the same problem one month ago and it took TM 3 days to solve the problem.

It proved my thought was correct when I called again on Saturday night to check on the report status and the customer support told me the area problem was solved. My problem still remain! The person entertained my call told me my report is just a "complain report" and not a "technician report". I was a bit mad by raising up my voice but I still tried to control my own emotion.

After moving my brain, I think I understand why this happened. It was because my report was not treated as a separate case, that's why it was not submitted to the technician to take further action. As the area problem was solved, the technicians assumed that my problem had been solved as well.

Luckily the person answering my call was nice enough. He said what he could help me now is to send my report directly to the technician without asking me for further silly troubleshooting. I really appreciate that.

It came to Sunday morning. I called again to see if any action taken. I didn't put high hope as normally technicians are not working on weekend. The person told me the problem is because of some cables at my area were damaged and the technicians were changing the new cables. I felt more relief, well at least they were working on it.

I didn't have high hope but just keep my fingers crossed. Throughout the day I tried to connect from time to time but my trials just returned disappointing results. Until around 7.00pm just now, when I switched on the modem just for the sake of testing, surprisingly the line was ok and I was able to browse the Internet again!

Thanks God! It had been 4 days this time I was suffering without the Internet!! Although the line doesn't appeared to be stable, but at least I can access to various websites and blogging now. Hope my problem is totally solved and the line will remain healthy! Finger cross...

Internet Down - From Patient To Anger...

Fed up, demotivated, upset, disappointed. These feelings best described me at the moment. Imagine 2 days without Internet access at home. Today is the third days and I am still waiting for miracle.

Not sure what happened to my Internet starting on weekend. Initially it was ok, but download was a bit slow. I thought this was normal and it always happened. I didn't put too high hope on services provided by ISP. But at least I can still surf and downloading still working.

In the afternoon around 1 o'clock, I suddenly noticed that my Ethernet indicator on my modem stop blinking although it was still on. I checked my CFosSpeed indicator on my desktop, it went to zero. This told me my Internet line got problem already. I restarted my modem, but seemed like the situation remained!

I performed restarting repeatedly, but everytime the result made me more worry. The Ethernet indicator which usually blinking remain on and couldn't blink. I called customer care for support. Thanks God they didn't ask me to do some stupid steps this time. After some troubleshooting, they suspected it was my hardware problem.

I noticed there was a friend who faced the same problem with me.
So, I concluded it was not my hardware problem. The night came... but my Internet still off. I called the customer care again. He asked me to do troubleshooting but the call suddenly cut off half way of the troubleshooting.

Sunday morning, the situation remained. I called again. The customer care told me the technician already looked into the problem. She said they will try to solve my problem hopefully by end of the day. I felt thankful at least some action had been taken, but I was not confident how much effort they had put in to solve the problem. Throughout the day I kept trying to connect to the Internet but everytime I couldn't see my Ethernet indicator blinks back. What a disappointment. I was so down...

It is Monday. During lunch time, without much hope I tried to connect again and hope for miracle. It once again disappointed me to the deepest. Still the same result! I called 100 again! The person answered the phone told me that the status is still "pending technician". I asked how long I still have to wait and he told me that 1 or 2 more days!

My God! How you expect me to survive without Internet connection for another 2 days!! I felt of scolding but luckily I still sober. He is just an operator and no point to shout at him. Maybe I just need to be patient for the next 2 days but hopefully less.

Just now my mum called. She told me that maybe somebody from TM called regarding the Internet. My mum not clear what the caller trying to tell because she has no idea on how all these thing works. I asked my mum why not you ask him to call my handphone number but she said the guy refused to do so!!

I suspect it was the TM contractor who called. What the hack!! Are you trying to stimulate my nerves of anger now!??!! All these while when I did the complains I was using my handphone number and the operator kept confirming my handphone number each time I made the complain, but why now the contractor didn't contact me using the same number? What service standard is this?

I think I am a bit lost of patient already after this incident. Now I gonna write to TM to question them what kind of service standard the contractor gave to its customers! I would like to see how TM gonna explain for this!

Anyway, I still finger cross my line will get to normal at the time I reach home after work (although I had bad instinct on this...*_* ).

1st Anniversary...

Is 8th of August (08/08) brings any meaning to you?

If you still remember, one year ago on the same day, Beijing had became the first Asia nation in the history to host Olympics game, one of the most prestige sports event on the globe! So it is the anniversary celebration for China people for their excellent job!

For me, 08/08 brings more meaning than just about Beijing Olympics. Exactly on the same day one year ago, I chose to register this blog and started my blogging life. There was no special intention why I chose to write blog. I just tried to follow the trend in cyber world and at the same time, hope that I could improve my English writing skill by practicing. There is a saying "Practice Makes Perfect". It is quite true and I wished it would work for me as well.

Honestly, I had a very bad writing skill. My poor English command had further made my writing become more difficult and I had to spend more time than others when I wrote an article in my blog. That's why, over the past one year, I spent more time in blogging rather than playing games which is quite unusual for me.

I you ask me if my English writing skill had improved after one year's effort? Well... I don't feel so. My vocabulary is still very weak. I still need to think twice and long before I can convert my thoughts to proper English sentences.

Yet, I won't give up and will keep blogging. I still believe in practice will make perfect. Recently you may feel the reduction in my posts because after one year, I slowly out of new and fresh topics to share about. Anyway, I promised that I will try my best to update my blog if there is any interesting happening in my life. For those who have trust on me... please stay tune!

I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to those who had supported my blog directly or indirectly over the past year. Without your support, my blog is just nothing!

Met With GT Girls @ One Utama

Met with few GT girls (a.k.a race queens) this morning when I went to One Utama. There is a Serpang F1 promotion over there. I think I won't say much, a lot of "buaya" won't even care what I am writing at this moment. Most of them will just staring at the GT girls.

These are 2 of them. From their appearance, should be foreign GT girls. I am not sure why one of them need to cover her body with white cloth. Perhaps she is having flu or too shy?

Another 2 I think should be foreign GT girls as well. These 2 are very tall! Not even dare to stand beside them! ;p

Then the follwoing 2 GT girls are chinese! I prefer these 2. Look really sexy and attractive. They stood behind me, no wonder just now when I played the F1 simulation race game, my Maclaren F1 car kept out of control and ran out from track! Damn! As the result, I got last in the race! (Thanks for Jackyfoxking who helped me to shot this photo!)

You see, my hand was shaking when I tried to shot on this pretty GT girl! Maybe I was too nervous! Sorry for that! The 2 Chinese GT girls were help in setting up the simulation race and giving instruction before the race start.



Oh ya! I also requested the GT girls to pose beside the very sexy sports car so that I could take some shots (actually I just find an excuse to take her photo la... ^_^). When sexy car meet with pretty girl, this give me the "Fast and Furious" feel! This pretty girl initially felt a bit shame when I requested her for photo, but she still made a very nice posing beside the Mazda sports car! (Don't ask me about the car model, that time I just concentrate on the GT girls ok?) ;p


I also had the opportunity to shot on another model posing beside a Volkswagen rally car. Today I am so lucky meeting with so many leng loi!!

My Birthday In KL

Today is actually my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!! My age? A secret ok?

Don't have any special celebration for my birthday as I am in KL now. In fact even if I am in my hometown, there won't be any special celebration as well because normally I will just celebrate my lunar calendar birthday and not the Gregorian calendar one.

My family did celebrate my lunar calendar birthday just a day before I flied to KL. As usual, my mother cooked "Mee sua" or "So mian" for me and family. The one having birthday deserved a big big drum stick!!

Then my mother also prepared boiled eggs. Birthday guy get to have 2 but others only one each!

On my lunar calendar birthday this year, coincidentally my 2nd sister and brother-in-law were back home for break. So they bought me a birthday cake, a very nice one but I forgot its name.

Oh no! My birthday today will be over in just about 5 minutes time! Although I didn't have any special celebration today, but I felt appreciate because I got some "birthday gifts"!

First I got this Colgate Plax for free when I was walking to have lunch with my colleagues! Some leng loi gave me this! I got one when went for lunch then another when i was back to office! Isn't it sounds good? I just treat these as my brithday presents from leng loi lo! ;p After all, we shall live our life positively, don't we?

Then, I bought myself a birthday gift as well! Guess what? It is a computer mouse!! I had been surveying a cheap, nice and pretty (Peng, leng, Jan) computer mouse in Lowyat Plaza on weekend and today I just happened to went there with my colleagues during lunch hour, so I managed to get it as my birthday present! Sounds good right?

The mouse is just a cheap one, RM16 with 3 months warranty! But I like its shape and it is more ergonomics looking. I tried it and it is really not bad to hold! Thanks myself for the birthday present! (Actually I need a mouse for the notebook I used now! ;p )
