Fuel Price Further Reduction

I know most of you knew this already, but I just put it here for a record to keep track of country fuel price changes over time.

So, another good news from our "caring" government today. Fuel price will be further deducted effectively on midnight 15 October 2008. The changes are as below:

Fuel CategoryOld Price(RM)New Price(RM)Drop(RM)
RON97 Petrol2.452.300.15
RON92 Petrol2.302.200.10
Diesel2.402.200.20
[Fuel price effective on 15th October 2008]

If you ask me if I am happy for this I will say NO! Maybe yes I can save few more ringgits but my other expenses will remain the same. Nothing much to cheer about. Fuel price hike already left a very bad impact especially to average families' pocket.

This is what our Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad said in a statement:
"The public should not expect a dramatic reduction as it would be prudent for the Government to make changes gradually.

We also have to take into account petrol station operators who would be at the losing end if fuel prices are dramatically reduced, he said in adding that any price revision would take into account the Government’s 30 sen per litre subsidy."

Ya right! Petrol station operators would at the losing end if fuel price dramatically reduced! But did the government also consider that the Rakyat is at the losing end when they decided to increase the fuel price drastically from RM1.92 to RM2.70 few months ago??!! I don't think our lost since then is lesser than the petrol station operators!

So, who gonna care for us then?
