I know I suppose to post this on-the-date, but over the weekend I was struck by fever and diarrhea. I totally lost my appetite, I didn't eat and I lost my energy. I felt tired and sleepy all the time. I took 2 Paracetamol in the morning hoped that I would feel better and could make it to Joyce and Wang's wedding ceremony.
I did feel a little better when the medicine generate chemical effects inside my stomach. I managed to wake up, and after a simple change not even properly comb my hair, I went to Joyce-Wang's wedding ceremony held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, a catholic church near Jalan Lanang, Sibu.
This was my first time stepped into a Catholic church and also attending Catholic's wedding ceremony. As a whole, I would say there were slight differences between a Catholic and Methodist wedding ceremony where Catholic ceremony were more serious and has more procedure to follow.
The ceremony ended after about 1 hour and 10 minutes where the new couple walked out the church while receiving blessing from those attending the ceremony.
It was a good experience for me, but because of my body condition at that moment, I was unable to follow some of the procedures like standing up for singing and praying etc. I hope I will be forgiven for this.
At evening time, I was invited to the wedding dinner held at Regalia Ballroom, Kingwood Hotel. Almost unable to attend it because of my body condition. Diarrhea and fever made me weak. Luckily another 2 Paracetamol gave me a little strength to wake up and thanks to Sparkish for fetching me to the dinner place.
Sparkish and me were sitting at the same table with some 2nd and 4th floors important gentlemen. I was a bit nervous at the beginning. However, their friendliness slowly made me feel comfortable. There was one even suggested we should visit to 2nd floor more often so that we could knew each other more. Well, although it sounds not really possible to simply visit 2nd floor without official purposes, but that was a very positive suggestion which I appreciate.
The dinner was great! Beside nice foods, there were also few semi-professional singing and dancing to entertain those attending the dinner.
I most impressed with this small kid. In his young age, he could dance equally good as the adult dancers and won a lot of applause from the crowd!
The "open-Champagne" ceremony was a fun one with the bridegroom tried his very best to open one of the Champagne cork yet was unable to make it no matter how hard he tried. He could easily open another one, so I guess it was not the bridegroom's problem, it was the Champagne's fault, agree with me?
The dinner ended at about 9.50pm. I enjoyed the dinner very much despite my poor body condition which restricted me to eat and move around. Otherwise, I would enjoy the foods more and take more photos on the night.
Anyway, I felt honored to be invited to the dinner. Joyce was my former schoolmate where I was much senior than her. She was also my superior in company's social club and close cousin to my buddy. She is a very friendly and helpful girl. Wang or Colin was my ex-colleague but we only became colleague for less than 2 months where he left the company when I joined. I get to know more about him only after I knew Joyce. Yet, I believe he is a nice guy. If not, Joyce won't choose him as her life-time partner.
Deep from my heart, I wish Wang and Joyce have a blessed marriage and may their love is eternity!

When PM Visited Sibu @ Sibu Airport
This was what happened at Sibu airport when Prime Minister visited this town on 5th July 2009.
Police traffics were everywhere...
No access to sky bridge even you are using MAS Airline... but why?
At the airport lobby area...
National Service students were queuing...
Some corporates staffs were here to welcome the PM. Those identical green color uniform were the easiest to recognize...
Policemen were there...
Those taking blue flag with white weighing scale on it were ever ready...
Yellow flag bearers never want to lose in this kind of war...

New Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex From Far
This is the new Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex which is sitting on top of a hill just on the banks of Sarawak river.
Visitors to Kuching will hardly miss this building because the giant building is just opposite Kuching Water Front. it is believed that it will become the new landmark to the city of Kuching.
However, this building costs RM300 million of taxpayers money! Therefore issue about the necessity of building it was raised because the current Legislative Assembly building still fine to be used.
The new building can sit up to 108 state assemblymen, each having their own office. It will be opened officially by Yang Di-Petuan Agung, Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin on 27 July 2009.
I found that the shape of this RM300 million worth of building look alike one of the sculpture found at Kuching water front...
... and also the Khatulistiwa Cafe not far away from there.

Famous Kolok Mee Shop @ Bishopgate Kuching
This is just another non-halal post from me! ^^
Should I say this is the best kolok mee stall in the cat town of Kuching? I am not sure, but if you wish to eat kolok mee at this coffee shop, you better pray hard so that you can find a place to sit down at the time you reach there.
Otherwise, you just have to stand there and wait... and wait ...and wait, until somebody finish their foods and their buttocks start to leave the chairs... at this very critical moment, make sure you put aside your image, no matter you are a guy or girl and grab the "semi-vacant" chair in the shortest time! Only by then, you are qualified to taste what is so special about the kolok mee here.
Yes! Kuching people should know which coffee shop I was talking about! It is the coffee shop at Bishopgate, a junction from Carpenter Street which I mentioned in my previous post about "Kueh Chap".
The coffee shop is not famous for its name. Not many people will know if you mention about the name "Next Coffee Shop". In fact, this is its new name, new signboard and new shop!
Its old name was "Min Joo", I guess even local Kuching people may not know about this. Before this, the shop was at the most corner shop lot which was just next (to the right) to the current shop. It had been there for many years but somehow the shop owner didn't want to extend the contract. Thus, the coffee shop operator has to find a new place, which is just at the next door. I guess this is where the name "Next Coffee Shop" came from.
Ok, we back to the topic... just now we stopped at you have to put your image aside to grab the vacant table in order to taste the foods here. After you get your seat, the next thing you need to do, is... another long waiting.
Please don't act smart by ordering the foods by yourself because nobody will entertain you! Just sit back and relax while enjoying the hot wind until somebody come to your place to write your order. Well... you have to wait let say 15 - 30 minutes depend on your luck before you get served
After you placed your order, the next thing is still waiting! You can utilize this unproductive time by praying that the food you ordered will come faster. Otherwise, it will be another 15 - 30 minutes of waiting and it much depend on luck!
One more thing, please be advised to go there at least 3 people onwards. Not a big deal if you go there alone or coupling, but be prepared to share table with strangers. This unique culture is called "Dap Toi" in KL and hardly being found in Sarawak. For those who love adventure, maybe it is a good chance to taste the feeling of dinning on the same table with strangers.
Well... the foods finally came after a long long wait! This is "Kolok Mee Jeng". Still remember what is "Jeng"? I did mention about it in my previous post about "Kueh Chap Jeng". It means plain. "Kolok Mee Jeng" means just plain Kolok Mee without adding minced/sliced pork or black soya sauce into the noodles.
Actually there is nothing much to cheer about on the plain noodles itself. What this shop is famous of is this pig innards soup! Most people come to this shop not just to eat its Kolok Mee, but mee with this soup! Even some celebrities from Taiwan such as "Ah Hong" ever came here to taste it!
You can find various pig's innards inside the soup - the intestine, liver, kidney, stomach etc together with boiled pork, minced pork and also seaweeds.
Never try it before? Come and try once! You judge yourself if it worths such long waiting. Some people said "Good foods worth the waiting". I guess there are some truth behind this saying as overwhelming crowd keep visiting to the shop daily although have to fight for seats, suffer the long waiting time and also poor services given!

Kahurangi Maori Dance Theatre @ BCF 09
In my previous post about Borneo Cultural Festival, I promised that I will reveal about the performance by a New Zealand dance group that I saw at BCF Tradex and Expo stage. Here it is!
After making some research on the net, I just realized the name of this dance group who came all the way from New Zealand is "Kahurangi Maori Dance Theater". The word Kahurangi means "a cloak from heaven". I am not sure what is that means, but it sounds great!
These foreign dancers were performing various dance from traditional Maori and Polynesia culture with their very unique colorful and traditional costume.
Maori means the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand or in another word, they are the native people of New Zealand whereas Polynesia is a subregion of oceania, comprising a large grouping of over 1,000 islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean.
Their dances are based on Maori history at 900AD when the first immigration through Polynesia took them from Hawaii to New Zealand.
That's why they were not just focusing on New Zealand native dance, but also dances from Hawaii and Samoa (maybe they had some other dances which I didn't see).
The performance was interactive, where one of the performer who also acted as the host introduced to the audience about the Maori history before each performance started.
He also taught the audience to speak simple native word and asked the audience to speak out loudly after him. Yeap! I did follow him! Loud and clear! Too bad I couldn't remember any of them except the word "Aloha" from Hawaii!
He also introduced the tools used for dancing one-by-one as these tools were not just normal sticks but were some of the weapon used by the Maori in the old time to protect themselves.
These were dance from Hawaii with Hawaiian costume...
These were dance from Samoa with their traditional costume...
... and also the Maori dances...
Beside traditional dancing, singing and some comedy elements also been added to the performance. So, you not just only enjoy the stunning dancing, but also the nice songs singing live by the performers. I can tell you that all of the performers have very good vocal and really nice to listen! You can hear their voice loud and clear even without microphone. I guess that is one of the reason why most of them were such "big" in size! ^^ You can also laugh out loudly throughout the show!
Some local audiences were invited to the stage to mimic the professional dancer doing his action. It certainly created a lot of laughter and made the show even more interesting.
Photo below shows a very unique dancing performance with throwing and passing the sticks. Beside have to catch the sticks precisely, the performers also need to sing at the same time which really need high skill to do so.
This is another unique performance - dancing with "Poi" which look like 2 cups tied to the end of the string then the girls will spinning it following the music melody.
The show ended with the very famous New Zealand Maori Haka dance (warrior dance). This was the dance that usually performed by the world-known New Zealand All Blacks international rugby team before their match started.
It was really a stunning performance which you shouldn't miss! This group will have their last performance tonight at the BCF 09 main stage. So, if you have time, just go there and take a look! I am sure you will like it!
