DAP Final Battle of The Century Night @ Sibu By-Election
For those who care about Sibu by-election and somehow, for any reason couldn't be here to feel the heat of it, here I present to you what happened last night which appeared to be the biggest and the hottest political gathering ever by DAP or even for Sibu!
The turn up was impressive and the atmosphere was great! It was estimated that more than 6000 people attending this event! Do you ever attend a concert? Any concert? Yeah, I would describe the atmosphere as just like in a concert where the spectators emotion are high, responsive and excited! Some spectators blowing the whistle to cheer for the political leaders on stage. DAP flags were waved in the air!
Lots of big names were here last night. One of them was Chairman of DAP Malaysia Karpal Singh. Despite his inconvenient, he still made to the stage and share his experience. Then, there was DAP spiritual leader Lim Kit Siang, Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, DAP golden speaker Nee Kor Ming, Parliament opposition head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the most surprising, the president of PAS Malaysia Tuan Guru Abdul Haji Awang.
The place was terribly jammed and there was a helicopter (police) patrolling in the air throughout the event to monitor the situation. Through half way of the event, fireworks can be seen!! But that was not DAP's fireworks. It was fireworks from a local corporate.
It was a great night and the event continue until almost midnight. This was something that Sibu people never experience before and it also signified the end of the great Sibu by-election campaign week!

DAP Final Battle of The Century @ Sibu By-Election
The stage is ready, the battlefield is ready... and this is DAP's final battle of the century which will be held tonight 7.00pm at car park opposite Paramount Hotel. All are encourage to wear red for this event! Make it the biggest ever!
Ministry of Home Affairs Exhibition @ Sibu Gateway
It is a very eventful week in Sibu especially when the pooling day of Sibu by-election is approaching. There were a lot of events been held here and there, most of them were organized by Putrajaya ministries.
This morning I went to an exhibition organized by Ministry of Home Affairs. This event had been officially opened by the minister Dato' Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussien yesterday at Sibu Gateway.
Agencies under the ministry taking part in the exhibition and there were some programs going on for each booth of the respective agencies. Among the agencies taking part are Polis Diraja Malaysia, Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia, Jabatan Penjara Malaysia, Jabatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia and etc.
One of the booth that attracted my attention was the booth that belongs to Malaysia Civil Defence Department. A King Cobra with 17 feet long was displayed here to the public. Besides that, few pythons and different kind of small snakes also be shown.
I also visited the booth of Malaysia Royal Police. Here I registered myself as "Rakan Cop Polis Sarawak" which I wished to do for quite some time but there was no proper channel for me to do it. By register as a member, you can make police report or keep contact with police by just sending SMS if you find any crime on scene. I am not sure how effective is there service, but at least I felt more secure been a member.
The registration process was simple. Fill a simple form regarding your personal information, send a SMS and get your membership number which will cost your RM1.00 for the SMS and that's about it.
Upon registration, I had been given some souvenirs including 2 car glass stickers and the thing I like most is the Rakan Cop laser pen/laser pointer! Not too bad right? The program will be ended today.

Sibu Tua Pek Kong Day Procession
It was a big day for Sibu yesterday where a local festival called "Tua Pek Kong Day" was held here. This is the 2nd time the town celebrate this event. A street procession had been held at night time as a way of celebration.
This year the procession is a big one with total of 120 teams taking part in the event. As coincidentally this event was held within Sibu by-election period, Sibu people had been told that Prime Minister would be joining the procession.
That's why, as early as 6pm, people started to swarm onto the street as they were pretty excited to meet their 1 Malaysia Prime Minister who was going to take part in the procession. For Sibu people, the Premier taking part in their local events means a lot to them!
After a long wait, around 8pm, siren of police traffic could be heard signaling the arrival of the Premier. Another half an hour waiting, the procession started officially. Most people predicted PM would be leading the procession with the organizing committees and some other VIPs.
However, his shadow couldn't be seen when the procession leaders' team passed by. Those leading were the "left-over" VIPs of SUPP and organizing committees. I could feel the disappointment of some Sibu people when they started questioning about the sincerity of the Premier participating in this event. The feeling for being cheated wasn't taste good in heart.
Anyway, Sibu people got some condolences when DAP symbolic leaders Lim Kit Siang was joining the procession with his fellow comrades as well as Sibu by-election candidate Wong Ho Lien. Lim was friendly enough to greet and shake hand with people along the procession path. At least, Sibu people felt honored and touched with this!
Back to the procession, it was an eventful night, yet I think next time the organizing committee should coordinate the gap between each team so that there will be more continuity among the team during the march and not end up with a lot of waiting and time wasting.
It took about 2 hours to watch all the 120 teams marching pass. I couldn't explain in more detail about the entire event, so I will leave you with the photos and some video and I believe they will explain the thousand word. Enjoy!

Sibu By-Election PR Campaign - Night 1
I felt lucky because have the chance to witness what a by-election is all about! It is totally different from the normal state election or parliamentary one as all the focus will be put on a place and in this case, it is Sibu!
Sibu, is not a big and well-known town in the context of this country, but recently because of the by-election, almost everyday you can see Sibu on tv! Besides that, all political big names either from ruling parties as well as opposition parties are blooming into this town since the nomination day (8th May). It is predicted that this phenomenon will continue until the pooling day which is scheduled on 16th of May! Therefore if you wish to visit Sibu in this period of time, please be reminded that all hotels, no matter big or small, expensive or cheap, new or old... all had been fully booked!
Campaigns and political talks from both parties had been started since last night, so it is a busy week for Sibu people. Last night I attended the first political talk by Pakatan Rakyat at Butterfly Park of Sibu. It was really a nice experience as you can meet opposition heavyweight political idols such as Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Teresa Kok and so on in person!
