A Farewell @ Mitsu Shabu-Shabu Restaurant

It is just another farewell lunch. This time, it was Grace who chose to leave the company to pursue a better future. As usual, our office would organize a simple farewell lunch just to show our appreciation and gratefulness for all her services and contribution to the company all these while.

Our choice of farewell lunch - Mitsu Shabu-Shabu Restaurant. It is a Japanese style hot pot eating establishment which is hardly found in Sibu. Thus, if you wish to go in a group, make sure you book first especially during lunch or dinner peak hours. Otherwise, you may go back with disappointment as you may not get a place to enjoy the foods.

We went there on peak hours, therefore the place was quite full with patrons. If not because we booked earlier, we might have no seats waiting for us. Each individual actually got their own hot pot recessed into tabletop. However, they were 12 of us but the table reserved for us is actually for 10 persons. I think no need for me to further elaborate that there were 2 pots needed to be shared.

Yeah! I was the one compromised and shared. I am not sure who were the other 2 sharing, but definitely not the one with higher hygiene level than others!

Our appetizers were 2 different types of fried noodles. First one looked like the fried noodles in Hokkien style which I ate in KL...

... another one should be translated as fried noodles in special Lisboa sauce (葡京面).

After the appetizers, it was time for the main dishes which consist of raw foods that need to be boiled in the hot pot. They consist of some vegetables, bean curd, salted vegetables, small portion of edible fungus, seaweeds, eggs with seafoods, beef slices, chicken slices or ham.

For the soup, it is either original or you can choose to add in hot and spicy or tomyam paste. I was sharing the pot with Jacky and we agreed to try out tomyam flavor. However, I think we didn't put enough tomyam paste into the soup which caused the soup didn't really taste enough "tomyam".

This is the sambal/sauce in belacan mixture which I like it quite well...

We also tried out some fried seafoods dumplings and it taste yummy!

I experienced to boil an egg inside the hot pot. This is how I did it! It was fun to see the egg boiling!

Somebody not satisfied as their stomach not yet fully filled. So we decided to order a plate of fried kueh tiaw in Indian style. It is actually fried kueh tiaw with chili and dried shrimp. Some complained that it was too spicy. As for me I felt it was just nice but I agreed that it was too salty.

For the drink, I tried this RM3.00 ice-blended chocolate with papermint flavor. It was cooling but the taste not really impressed me.

It was a great lunch. I didn't mean the foods but the opportunity we have to sit down together to have a good lunch. This is a rare opportunity. The lunch ended in about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Grace had been working in this company for almost 4 years. All these years, she was the most quiet and soft-spoken person in the office but don't underestimate her, she may not as weak as some people may thought. It has been a pleasure working with her all these years, so I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely wish Grace all the best in her future endeavour and please don't forget us in the company.

P/s: Sorry for the poor quality of the foods photo because the table was too big so it was kind of hard for me to snap the foods in the near distance. Furthermore I guess my colleagues were too hungry that time so I couldn't selfish enough to ask them wait while I was snapping pictures on the foods, could I?

The Hilux Roadshow @ Sibu Gateway

The Hilux Roadshow is held in Sibu Gateway from 5 - 7 June 2009. I visited the roadshow this morning just to feel the ambiance and situation over there and at the same time, wished to meet with some show girls if possible for some "buaya moment"(TM)!

For small town like Sibu, this roadshow is considered quite a "big scale" event with not only Toyota cars on sale, but also some other activities like test driving and activities for kids are held concurrently to attract more people to visit to this roadshow.

The highlight of this roadshow is the two Hilux used in Rainforest Challenge being displayed and shown to the public. They are actually a typical Hilux pickups, yet some modification had been done on these cars so that they are suitable for tough challenges.

Can you see its tyres? Is there any difference with the typical 4-wheel-drive? Ya! They are much tougher and rough!

First time I saw this kind of tyres. Quite amazing! Anyway, I think it is needed when driving in extreme condition like mud.

The exhaust had been modified so that it was higher than the rooftop and the water won't flow into it when the pickups were used to across river.

Although it is called "The Hilux Roadshow", but it is actually not for Hilux only. Other popular Toyota car models were displayed to the public as well. These cars include Toyota Avanza, Vios, Toyota Rush, ordinary Hilux and so on.

If you would like to test drive any of the toyota cars, you can do it as well in this roadshow. Just choose any of these cars that you wish to test drive...

Then register your particular at the registration counter...

Then you will have chance to test drive any of these Toyota cars...

If you bring kids to the roadshow, don't worry there are activities for children as well. They can play and jump inside this giant air-filled toy...

... or participate in some artwork using colorful sand.

For those who have interest to visit to the roadshow, you still have one more day to go. The roadshow will be held in Sibu till tomorrow. So grab the chance!

P/s: So sorry, there ain't any show girls in this roadshow, so I couldn't give you any "buaya moment"! Perhaps Toyota can consider this in the next roadshow at least to attract more "buaya" to come! ;p

Chang Khim In Action @ Klang

In my 2 months working attachment in KL, I was lucky enough to meet Teng Chang Khim, the current Selangor State Legislative Assembly speaker from DAP. It is an open secret that he is one of my favorite opposition politician. Well, I guess it is not fair for me to call him "opposition politician" anymore because he is now sitting as the speaker of Selangor State Legislative Assembly which rule the state!

I like him for his sincerity and passion in his political life, low profile and speak out the truth. I first knew about him during 520 Sarawak state election when he was invited to give a political talk in a local DAP campaign which left me with a deep impression on him.

This time, when I was in KL, I was lucky enough to meet him twice in person. First time was on Wesak day. Teng was the special guest for a Wesak Day celebration event. Coincidentally I happened to be there and I was lucky enough to shake hand with him!

Beside met him in person, I also saw his official Selangor Speaker's car which is a black Toyota Camry with "Ahli Undangan Negeri Selangor" and "SPEAKER" badge attached in front of the car.

The next day, I met him again in Pasar Pagi Klang (Klang morning market). It was Mothers' Day on that day. Teng was giving away Carnations to the women visited the market.

Actually not only women received the flower, a lot of uncles also grabbed this chance to get the flower from Teng by claiming they wants to give it to their beloved wife! Nothing wrong with that right? Of course, they never wasted the chance to shake hand with the affable leader!

I think within half an hour, the flowers were finish distributed. I tried to approach him but failed because he was surrounded heavily by the crowd at that time. After finished distributing Mothers' Day flowers, Teng continued chit-chatting with the crowd and hawkers at the pasar pagi whereas I continued my visit to other part of the market.

p/s: Teng Chang Khim is a blogger as well! If you are interested in his blog, you can visit the blog titled Straightforward.

Monster Attack On The Stadium?

This is a breaking news (in BM) ....

According to a witness who is still in fear, the tragedy occured at 9.30pm. At that time, the Utraman Team was leading the game by 3-0. "At that moment, Utraman Team just scored their third goals. Suddenly, I saw a strong laser beam came from the sky and shot directly to the stadium's rooftop opposite where most of the Ultraman team supporters were sit. I could feel the beam's heat and within half a minute, the roof collapsed! The spectators started to save themselves by running out from the stadium", according to the witness in a special interview after the incident.

World of High Definition Roadshow 2009 @ Sibu Gateway

Visited Viera World of High Definition Roadshow 2009 by Panasonic at Sibu Gateway last Sunday. 2 big trucks combined to form 2 exhibition rooms where Panasonic products were displayed inside.

The highlight of the roadshow was the Malaysia largest plasma tv owned by Panasonic. It is a 103 inches plasma tv. Just compare its measurement with the tv you have at home. I think it is not too hard to imagine how a giant 103" tv can be!

It was certainly entertaining. With proper surround sound system attached to it, you can experience the feel of watching movie in cinema right from your home!

In this exhibition room, a proper sofa seat was ready for visitors to sit back and relax while experience the amazement of the 103" plasma tv.

Want to own this plasma tv? Yes! Certainly you can! Just pay this amount of money and the tv is yours! What do you think? ;p

In another exhibition room, there were 3 show girls inside with few Panasonic LCD TVs been displayed. Apart from these, there were also other Panasonic products like Lumix digital camera and so on, but I couldn't really have chance to see all those products as the show girls were either sitting or standing in front of them while resting and chit-chatting without really care about the people walking in and out.

Talking about show girls.... Ya! It is "Buaya" time (TM)!! I managed to shot the picture of 2 out of 3 show girls. Another one somehow went out. It was certainly a big challenge for me because I understand this is Sibu not KL. People in small town are not that open-minded and I was doubt about their professionalism because they not really care about the visitors walking in and out.

After myself walking in and out for several times, finally I decided to take out my courage and asked for permission to take their photo. Well, at least in this case, they showed their professionalism. Without much thought, the show girls posing in front of my camera! Despite showing some unwillingness on their face maybe they thought I am a "weird uncle"(TM), they still kind enough to give me a sexy pose! For this, I would like to thank them for their professionalism!

The 2 pretty girls... if you somehow read this post, I am not a "weird uncle". I am just a amateur blogger who wish to show your prettiness to the world! Thanks for your kindness!

Anyway, I still not sure if they are local or from outstation. Didn't have chance to ask them. Actually I never expect I could have chance to meet or shot on pretty show girls in Sibu. That's why my heart was beating fast from the moment I asked their permission till I pressed the shutter! So for "buaya" out there... hope you appreciate this! ;p
